Traditionally, paper prints are framed behind glass and matting.  Glass protects the matting and print from moisture, scratches, dents, natural oils from touching art with our fingers, and UV-rays from sunlight that can bleach the art.  Disadvantages of glass include glare from exposure to light sources, streaking from cleaning its surface, and dangers of permanently damaging the art should the glass shatter from a hard fall.  By using one of our print enhancements in place of glass, one receives all the protective benefits of glass and none of its disadvantages without breaking the bank!  

86 Market Arts offers 5 different Glass Alternatives, including 3 textured laminates (canvas, linen and satin), Z-Gel and Crackle.  Glass Alternatives are UV-ray protective as well as dust and water resistant.  Glass Alternatives are applied after the print has been dry-mounted to foam board.   Because the prints are dry-mounted during the enhancement process,  the print will never crease or warp.  Creasing and warping tend to occur when the art is placed in areas of high humidity, which is why our Glass Alternatives are extremely beneficial for prints that hang in bathrooms, kitchens, porches and in boat cabins.
